Yakju 14 Hana Makgeolli
Hana Makgeolli Yakju 14 is a refined, clarified Korean rice wine (sool) produced by the female-founded Hana Makgeolli brewery in Brooklyn, New York. It is a modern revival of a style historically reserved for the Korean nobility. Yakju 14 is made using a blend of organic medium-grain white rice and organic sweet (glutinous) white rice. Despite the 14% ABV, it is designed to be refined and elegant. It is the clarified portion of the brew (the clear liquid that rises to the top), which gives it a much thinner, cleaner weight than the milky, unfiltered Takju. : Bone dry and crisp, you’ll find intricate layers of barley, honeyed rice, and a slight floral lift, ending in a very clean, acidic finish.
