Erde means earth in German — and this wine is named for the soil that makes it what it is. The Muster estate’s Opok marl and limestone soils of South Styria produce Sauvignon Blanc and Morillon (the local name for Chardonnay) of extraordinary mineral depth and tension. This is not a conventional, aromatic Sauvignon — it is something more restrained and mineral, driven by the specific character of the soil rather than the variety’s typical exuberance.
Tasting Notes
Mineral and deep. The Sauvignon contributes freshness and tension; the Morillon (Chardonnay) adds texture and weight. The Opok soil shows throughout: wet stone, chalk, and a specific mineral depth that is the hallmark of the Muster estate’s wines. Complex, age-worthy, and serious.
