Vinas Mora’s Kaamen III is a premium Babić from the Primošten area of Northern Dalmatia — one of Croatia’s most serious and age-worthy indigenous red wines. Babić, grown on the famous dry-stone terraced vineyards above the Adriatic, produces wines of deep colour, striking spice, and the kind of mineral backbone that only limestone soils and a lifetime of sun can produce.
The Producer — Vinas Mora, Dalmatia
Vinas Mora is dedicated to expressing the full potential of Dalmatia’s indigenous grape varieties, with Babić at the centre of their focus. The Kaamen label — “kaamen” meaning stone in Croatian, a reference to the limestone foundation of the vineyards — represents their finest selection, vinified with minimal intervention to let the terroir speak clearly.
Tasting Notes
Expressive aromas of red cherry, kirsch, violet, rose hip, and an earthy touch soar from the glass. A sweet fruit core on the palate, with spicy notes becoming more dominant over time in the glass — countering the massive fruit beautifully. Medium-plus acidity adds plenty of freshness. Long, lingering finish.
How to Serve
Decant for at least 30–45 minutes. Serve at 17–18°C. Excellent now but built to develop over the next 5–10 years.
Food Pairing
Roast lamb, venison, wild boar, hearty beef stews. Aged hard cheese: Paški sir (Croatian Pag island cheese) is the classic pairing for a wine of this structure and intensity.
