tarllc 061 Vayots Dzor Red

Tarllc "061" Vayots Dzor is a rare, small-production natural red wine from Armenia. It is the project of Aaron Rawlins and Maral Sarian, who focus on preserving ancient vineyards and indigenous grapes through a "zero-zero" (no additives, no subtractions) winemaking philosophy. Tarllc (pronounced "Tarlac"), is made from 100% Sev Areni (Black Areni), the signature red grape of Armenia. Grown in Vayots Dzor, Armenia, the bottling of "061" comes from a plateau significantly higher than the makers’ other sites, sitting at roughly 1,600 meters elevation. The grapes are sourced from ungrafted, gnarled vines that are, on average, 150 years old. The wine is big, bold, and earthy with notes of stewed dark fruits, iron-like minerality, and hints of old library books or dried herbs.
