Barbera is the great everyday grape of northern Italy — naturally high in acidity and naturally low in tannin, which makes it one of the most food-friendly red varieties in the world. Pikasi’s Barbera from high-valley vineyards shows impressive depth and expression: 12 months in oak adds structure without overwhelming the variety’s natural character, and the extended lees aging before bottling builds texture and complexity.
Tasting Notes
Youthful and vibrant with impressive depth. Dark berry fruit, cherry, and the characteristic Barbera acidity that gives the wine its freshness and cut. The oak aging adds a gentle spice and body without becoming dominant. Clean, direct, and very easy to enjoy.
How to Serve
Serve at 15–17°C. No decanting needed. The wine for a midweek dinner that should taste like more thought went into it than it did.
Food Pairing
Pasta with tomato sauce, pizza, roast chicken, grilled sausages, salumi, any Italian food. Barbera’s high acidity makes it one of the great pizza and pasta wines — it cuts through the fat and amplifies the savoury.
