Ocho Who do you love? Saperavi 2023

The 2023 Ocho "Who Do U Love?" Saperavi is a bold, natural red wine that serves as the "darker" counterpart to the amber Mtsvane (“Ocho Do U Believe?”). Produced by the Ocho project in the Kakheti region of Georgia, this wine is a pure, high-energy expression of Saperavi, Georgia’s most famous red grape. The 2023 vintage is intense and structured, but carries the "fresher" fruit profile typical of the Ocho style. The appearance is opaque, deep ruby with a vibrant purple rim. Aromatically, there is a powerful mix of black cherry, pomegranate, and wild dark berries. You’ll also find savory notes of black tea, tobacco, and a hint of forest floor. Full-bodied and muscular, Saperavi is known for its high natural acidity and "grippy" tannins, which give the wine a lot of "chew" and longevity. Expect flavors of plum and blackberry jam with a mineral, stony backbone. This wine benefits from decanting or being opened an hour before drinking to let the tannins soften.
