Monier de la Sizeranne - M. Chapoutier - Hermitage

Sale price$165.00

M. Chapoutier Hermitage “Monier de la Sizeranne” is one of the benchmark red wines of the Northern Rhône Valley. Produced by the historic house M. Maison Chapoutier (under the visionary direction of Michel Chapoutier), this wine represents a masterclass in balancing the natural muscular power of the Hermitage appellation with elegance and nuance.

The wine draws its identity from three distinct sites: Les Bessards (granite, bringing structure and minerality), Le Méal (gravelly, chalky alluvial soil, adding warmth and dark berry fruit), and Les Greffieux (silty soil, adding elegance).

Fully destemmed and fermented in concrete tanks, followed by 18 months of aging. Chapoutier ages roughly 85% in oak barrels (around 15–20% new) and 15% in concrete to preserve pure varietal fruit and terroir expression. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Highly aromatic, led by ripe red and dark fruits (raspberry, blackcurrant, blackberry) complemented by savory undertones of black pepper, licorice, subtle leather, and smoke. This wine is full-bodied yet remarkably graceful. It hits the palate with a rich attack, offering concentrated dark berry fruit, sweet spices, and a driving streak of wet-stone minerality.
