The 2024 Matthieu Barret “Petit Ours” Côtes du Rhône is a celebrated "natural" Syrah that serves as a more accessible, playful counterpart to Barret's high-end Cornas. Often referred to by its full name Petit Ours Brun (Little Brown Bear), it is designed for high "drinkability" and fresh fruit expression. The 2024 vintage continues Barret's signature style of "crunchy" fruit and vibrant energy featuring aromas of blackberry, wild blueberry, and dried lavender, with a distinct savory edge of cracked black pepper and violets. On the palate, it features a bright acidity and fine, grippy tannins. Expect flavors of dark cherry, licorice, and a touch of stony minerality.
