Grape Plavac Mali
Producer Bura (Niko Bura)
Region Postup, Pelješac, Croatia
Vintage 2020
Farming Organic
Style Full-bodied red, age-worthy

No other winemaker in Croatia stands out more than Niko Bura, whose family has one of the longest traditions of winemaking in Dingač and Croatia as a whole, spanning over sixteen generations since 1410. This is his Postup expression — from the equally prestigious but slightly more accessible slopes of the Pelješac Peninsula, where Plavac Mali on 45-degree south-facing cliffs above the Adriatic produces wines of deep intensity and concentration.

Bura’s vineyards are fully organic. No irrigation. The winemaking is what Croatia does best at its most prestigious level: full-bodied, dark-fruited, built for age, with the specific limestone-and-sea mineral character of the Dalmatian coast.

Tasting Notes

Deep dark colour. Concentrated black fruit — figs, plums, blueberry jam — with notes of pine, dried herbs, and that specific earthy-savoury quality that Dingač and Postup Plavac always carry. Powerful tannins and robust structure, with a refreshing acidity that keeps everything in balance. A wine that reflects the rugged beauty of the Dalmatian coast.

How to Serve

Decant for 45 minutes. Serve at 17–18°C. Can be cellared for 10+ years.

Food Pairing

Roast lamb, venison, slow-cooked beef, aged Pag cheese. The food of Dalmatia at its most celebratory.
