Bizeljsko is a sub-region of Lower Styria in southeastern Slovenia, known for a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters — the temperature variation between day and night that preserves the natural acidity and concentrates aromatics that Muscat requires to be at its best. Yellow Muscat here is grown at 350 metres above sea level on southwest-facing shale, clay and sandstone soils, hand-picked at the end of September.
Keltis ferments spontaneously without added yeast, then ages for 18 months in large oak barrels — a treatment that adds texture and complexity without overwhelming the variety’s natural floral and aromatic character. Only 10 mg/L SO₂ is added: genuinely minimal intervention.
Tasting Notes
Intense yellow with a slight haze. Ripe citrus and some tropical fruit on the nose. Pleasantly buttery texture on the palate, rich and full, with beautiful juicy acidity that keeps everything fresh and precise.
How to Serve
Serve at 7–10°C. An excellent aperitif and a wine for aromatic food.
Food Pairing
Spiced fish, Asian cuisine, mild curries, fresh white cheese, fruit-based desserts. Muscat’s aromatic character works where other whites struggle.
