Žilavka is Bosnia-Herzegovina's most important indigenous white grape, grown on the limestone terraces above the Neretva river near Mostar. The name translates roughly as “tough” or “tenaciou” — a reference to the grape’s deep root system, which drives through the shallow rocky soil to find water in a climate of fierce Mediterranean summer heat. Brkić’s expression is a refreshing reflection of this terroir: precise, herbal, and specific in the way that only a wine from a single variety in a single place can be.

Tasting Notes

Bright yellow-green fruit on the nose — lemon zest, dried Mediterranean herbs, fresh-cut apple. On the palate: Anjou pear, sage, oregano, and a clean, bracing acidity that the heat of the Herzegovinian summer somehow preserves. Light-bodied, dry, and extraordinarily refreshing. This wine makes you want to sit down, pour another glass, and think about where it came from.

How to Serve

Serve cold at 8–10°C. This is the wine for summer — for outdoor tables, grilled fish, and long afternoons. The perfect house white for those who want something interesting rather than ordinary.

Food Pairing

Grilled white fish, seafood, light salads, fresh cheese, dolma, anything from the broader Balkan and Mediterranean table. The herbal character makes it exceptional with herb-heavy dishes.
