Barolo Del Comune Di Serralunga Schiavenza

Sale price$51.00

Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba from the Schiavenza estate is a powerful, traditional expression of Nebbiolo. While many Barolos are blends from various towns, this "Commune" bottling focuses strictly on the rugged, iron-rich soils of Serralunga, which is famous for producing the most long-lived and structured wines in the region. This wine is intense and "masculine" in structure. It possesses the deep, grippy tannins that Serralunga is known for, giving it a broad and powerful presence on the palate.  Like all great Nebbiolo, it has a high, soaring acidity. This creates a "nerve" that balances the heavy tannins and rich fruit, ensuring the wine feels elegant rather than heavy. Deeply complex, featuring classic notes of dried roses, forest floor, and "tar." You’ll also find hints of black cherry, leather, and licorice. It is savory and earthy. Because Schiavenza is a traditionalist producer, they age the wine in large Slavonian oak vats (botti) rather than small new French barrels, allowing the pure, savory mineral character of the Serralunga soil to shine through.
