Alpamanta Campal 2022

Alpamanta is a biodynamic winery in Mendoza making wines that express what this high-altitude, high-sunshine terroir actually tastes like without over-extraction, over-oak, or over-manipulation. Campal is their entry-level blend — Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot farmed organically, fermented naturally, and made with the kind of lightness of touch that most Mendoza production never achieves. The contrast with conventional commercial Argentinian wine couldn’t be greater.

Tasting Notes

Ripe and lively rather than heavy. Dark fruit, violet, a touch of herbs from the Cabernet Franc. The high altitude of Mendoza preserves natural acidity that conventional low-altitude vineyards lose, keeping the wine fresh and specific. A genuinely unique expression of what biodynamic Argentinian wine can be.
